Event Code of Conduct

Last updated: July 23, 2026

Convex, Inc. ("Convex," "we," "our," or "us") hosts events to bring together people who care about the art of software. That only works if everyone in the room feels safe, welcome, and respected.

This Code of Conduct applies to Abstract and every Convex-hosted event, in person or online, and to all associated spaces: the venue, the after party, event chat channels, the Convex Discord, and social media conversations tied to the event.

Who this applies to

Everyone. Attendees, speakers, moderators, partners, vendors, volunteers, organizers, and Convex employees ("Event Participants"). By registering for, attending, or participating in a Convex event, you agree to follow this Code of Conduct and our Event Terms and Conditions, which incorporate it by reference.

Expected behavior

  • Treat every Event Participant with respect, including people whose opinions differ from yours.
  • Show empathy and kindness in every interaction, in person and online.
  • Keep discussions constructive, on topic, and appropriate for a diverse, professional audience.
  • Respect personal boundaries. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Once someone asks you to stop an interaction, stop.
  • Follow event instructions from Convex staff, venue staff, and security.
  • Follow all applicable laws.

Unacceptable behavior

We do not tolerate behavior that makes any Event Participant feel unsafe or threatened, physically or emotionally. This includes:

  • Harassment in any form, public or private, in person or online.
  • Discriminatory, abusive, derogatory, or offensive remarks, including personal or political attacks, regardless of joking intent.
  • Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.
  • Sexualized language or imagery anywhere at the event, including talks, chat rooms, and social media.
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or advances of any kind.
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
  • Sustained disruption of talks, sessions, or other scheduled programming.
  • Using another person's property without permission.
  • Recording or photographing someone after they have asked you not to.
  • Sharing confidential information belonging to Convex, other Event Participants, or third parties.
  • Spamming, trolling, or repeated posting of irrelevant content in event channels.
  • Any other conduct that a reasonable person would find inappropriate in a professional setting.

Enforcement

We take violations seriously. If an Event Participant engages in prohibited behavior, Convex may take any action we deem appropriate, including:

  • A warning
  • Immediate removal from the event and any associated spaces, without refund of any fees paid
  • A ban from future Convex events and community spaces
  • Referral to venue security or law enforcement

If you are asked to stop a behavior, you must stop immediately.

Decisions on enforcement rest solely with Convex.

Reporting an incident

If you experience or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct, or have any concern about safety, report it right away:

  • Email marketing@convex.dev
  • In person, speak to any Convex employee, event staff member, or security officer

Reports are handled with discretion. We will help you contact venue security or local law enforcement if you need it, and we will support anyone experiencing harassment for the duration of the event.

Privacy

Any personal information you share in a report or during an event is handled in accordance with the Convex Privacy Policy.
