Convex All Gas Hackathon sponsored by OpenAI, Firecrawl, & AgentMail
Join the Convex All Gas Hackathon sponsored by OpenAI, Firecrawl, and AgentMail.
Build a new full-stack app: Convex runs it, Firecrawl feeds it data, AgentMail gives it an inbox. Use Codex or any agent with the Convex plugin.
Cash Prizes and Credits
$45,000 in total prizes and credits: $16,500 cash, $8,500 in Codex credits, and 20k in Firecrawl credits available to every participant during the build.
One prompt scaffolds a real-time app with a typed backend.
Three weeks to ship something people can use.
Let's see what you build.
How to participate
- Register here on Luma.
- Copy the hackathon setup prompt
- Paste it into your coding agent. It installs the Convex integration, the hackathon skill, and starts your build log.
- Build a new app starting August 25 with Convex as your backend.
- Anything goes, as long as Convex is the backend. Run /hackathon with your agent as you build to keep your hackathon log up to date.
- Deploy a public app
- Required. Host your frontend using the Convex static hosting component with a convex.site or ChatGPT Sites chatgpt.site url
- Share your app and tag @convex, @ @, and @ on X or LinkedIn.
Need auth? Try the new Convex Auth v2; it's super duper alpha.
Need an LLM in your app? Use Convex AI Gateway: managed model access from your actions, no API keys to store or rotate. Available to teams on a Convex paid plans only: docs.convex.dev/ai-gateway/overview

About the hackathon hosts and sponsors
About Convex: The reactive backend platform that keeps up with you and your agents. Database, functions, workflows, sync, search, file storage, and more. All TypeScript, zero glue. https://convex.dev
About OpenAI Codex: Codex is OpenAI's coding agent. It writes, reviews, and maintains full-stack apps. With the Convex plugin, Codex gets the convex-expert and convex-reviewer subagents, the Convex MCP server, and Agent Skills for auth, schemas, and migrations. https://openai.com/codex

Judging criteria
Everyday apps, not developer tools.
We score what you ship on Convex, OpenAI, Firecrawl, and AgentMail. Your hackathon.md build log is what judges read, so include what you built, the stack, the live URL, and your demo link.
Creativity and usefulness
Build something a real person would use this week: law, hospitality, health, construction, whatever you know. Copycats and developer-only tools score low.
Convex depth
Real use of queries, mutations, live updates, auth, and components. A thin frontend on a hosted page does not count.
Sponsor stack
OpenAI, Firecrawl, and AgentMail do real work in your product. They generate, crawl, or send, not just sit in the README.
Live URL
Judges can open what you built. Publish on convex.site or chatgpt.site. No localhost demos.
Social proof: You posted your build on X or LinkedIn. Engagement counts.
Video demo
Under 3 minutes. Talk less, click through the real product.
